Hong Kong Doctors 29 September 2011 To All Registered Medical Practitioners Dear Doctors, “Hong Kong Doctors” for undergraduate medical education in Hong Kong On the recommendation of the Visiting Team appointed by the Medical Council of Hong Kong (“the Council”) for the ‘2008 Review of Medical Education and Training of the University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong’, the Council assisted by its Education and Accreditation Committee has drawn up a document entitled “Hong Kong Doctors” to set out the attributes and skills expected of medical graduates of the two local medical faculties. This document aims to provide a framework for the two local medical faculties to design and fine-tune their medical curricula and schemes of assessment with a view to meeting the Council’s requirements. It will be used by the Council as a guide to review the structure and to evaluate the standard of undergraduate medical education and training when conducting future accreditation visits to the two medical faculties. As members of the medical profession, you may be interested to refer to the “Hong Kong Doctors” for the attributes and skills we are expecting from our future doctors. I now attach a copy of the document and hope you will find it a useful reference.
